When the situation in Syria first erupted, there was a news story that showed the devastation following an attack that left so many dead, and so many others wandering aimlessly around their former homes with nothing but a look of shock on their faces. One camera zoomed in on a small boy, covered in dirt, crouched down and stirring a finger in the dust on the street, and it felt like a kick in the stomach. Whatever the outcome, whatever the current situation we are experiencing throughout the world with refugees, people are still people, and kids are still kids.
Maybe the story isn’t exactly a piece worthy of the War Child charity, but it came from seeing that news report and feeling the need to say something. Read Monsters In The Dark if you want to see what that something was.
